quest1. Define tegra 4?
Ans1. The Tegra 4 was announced on 6th January 2013 and is functionally an SoC with a quad-core CPU, but includes a fifth low power Cortex A15 companion core which is invisible to the OS and performs background tasks to save power.

quest 2. Some latest release of tegra 4?
Ans2. Grey

Processor: Quad ARM Cortex-A9 + low power companion core
28 nm HPM
Integrated Icera LTE/HSPA+ baseband processor
To be released in Q3 2013

Logan

Processor: Quad ARM Cortex-A15 MPCore + low power companion core
Improved GPU core
28 nm[37] About 50 times faster than Tegra 2
To be released in 2013

Stark

Processor: Unknown ARMv8 (64-bit)
Improved GPU core
About 75 times faster than Tegra 2[38] To be released in 2014

quest3. Does tegra 4 support linux?
Ans3. YES, Nvidia distributes proprietary drivers for Tegra through OEMs and as part of its “Linux for Tegra” development kit. As of April 2012, due to different “business needs” from that of their GeForce line of graphics cards, Nvidia and one of their Embedded Partners, Avionic Design GmbH from Germany, are also working on submitting open source drivers for Tegra upstream to the mainline Linux kernel.

quest4. Some key festures of tegra 4?
Ans4.

1 GeForce GPU with 72 custom cores

2 Quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 CPU, plus a 2nd Generation Battery Saver Core

3 Computational Photography Architecture

4 LTE capability with optional Icera i500 chipset

5 4K ultra-high-def video support

quest5. How tegra 4 different from tegra 3?
Ans5. Tegra 4 does offer some additional enhancements over Tegra 3 in the GPU department. Real multisampling is finally supported as well as frame buffer compression (color and z). There’s now support for 24-bit z and stencil (up from 16 bits per pixel). Max texture resolution is now 4K x 4K, up from 2K x 2K in Tegra 3. Percentage-closer filtering is supported for shadows. Finally, FP16 filter and blend is supported in hardware. ASTC isn’t supported.

quest 6. How it supports mobile phones?
Ans6. Nvidia new computational photography engine lets mobile devices take two shots at once, letting you get the benefits of HDR mode without the lag. The iPhone 5 takes about 2 seconds to create HDR photos, while Tegra 4 is about 10X faster. Nvidia demonstrated this awesome performance by photographing CEO Jen-Hsun Huang with a prototype tablet. HDR also works for video and in burst mode, which is pretty amazing.

quest 7. Does tegra 4 supports game?
Ans7. Yes,Tegra 4 offers fast gaming performance.

quest 8. Some properties of tegra 4?

Ans8. 1 Computational Photography Capability

2 Unprecedented Power Efficiency

3 Tegra 4 also enables worldwide 4G LTE voice and data support through an optional chipset

  1. SANJANA KUMARI says:

Ever since NVIDIA arrived on the SoC (system on a chip) scene, it has done a great job of introducing its ultra mobile SoCs. Tegra 2 and 3 were both introduced with a healthy amount of detail and the sort of collateral we expect to see from any PC silicon vendor. While the rest of the mobile space is slowly playing catchup, NVIDIA continued the trend with its Tegra 4 and Tegra 4i architecture disclosure. Tegra4 is a very recent launch by NVIDIA and it has been expected the it would lead to lots of benefits in the world of Mobile Technology.
