There are various top b-schools in India. Either they take admission through a common entrance exam or conduct an exam of their own. Needless to say many students remain unaware of various exams and lessen the chances of their selection. Coming to help for such students we have created a list of top exams for MBA in India along with their complete details

CAT

The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer based test held in India and is conducted in the months of October and November. In 2013 CAT registration dates are from August 5 to September 24. It scores a person on the basis of Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Ability in first section and Data Interpretation and Verbal Ability in second section.  This test is conducted every year by one of the IIM’s based on a policy of rotation. Fee is Rs.1400 for general and if you belong to the SC/ST category then you can pay a discounted fee of Rs.700.

IIFT

 IIFT is conducted by Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. This year IIFT will be conducted on 24th November, 10 AM to 12 noon. There will be four rounds for selection- Written Test, Group Discussion, Essay Writing and Interview. Fee is Rs.1200 for General category and if you belong to SC/ST category then you can pay a discounted fee of Rs.600 per form.

MAT

The MAT is conducted through AIMA or All India Management Association and is aimed to find the potential students for the management courses all over India. MAT is conducted by AIMA four times a year, that is in February, May, September and December. Earlier in 2009, it was conducted only as a paper-pencil test. Although from 2009, it is available in both the formats, paper-pencil and computer based. This exam tests five different sections. These are Mathematical Skills, Language Comprehension, Indian and Global Environment, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning and Data Analysis and Sufficiency. The form fee is Rs.1200 and is fixed for all applicants.

SNAP

Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Test is a common test for the admission to all the Post-Graduate Programmes conducted by Symbiosis International University. Usually it is conducted in the middle of December. There are four sections in SNAP and these are- General English(Reading Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning, Verbal Ability) of 40 marks, Quant(Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency)  of 40 marks, General Awareness(General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Business Scenario) of 40 marks and Analytical & Logical Reasoning of 60 marks. Hence the total test id of 180 marks. The fee is Rs.1550 and this is fixed for all applicants.

IBSAT

ICFAI Business School conducts IBS Aptitude Test (IBSAT) which is for 2 hours duration and tests  ability in quantitative techniques, data interpretation, data adequacy, vocabulary, analytical reasoning and reading comprehension. Candidates with GMAT or CAT scores are cannot apply in IBSAT 2013. GMAT scores (from 2010 onward)  and CAT 2013 scores are accepted in place of IBSAT 2013. Eligibility includes graduation in any discipline with minimum 50% marks; with English as a medium of instruction. Candidates not eligible  in criteria of English medium at under-graduation level have to submit their TOEFL / NELT / IELTS score by May 31, 2014.The fee of the form is Rs.1200 and this is fixed for all applicants.

NMAT

NMAT is an entrance exam for admission into MBA courses of  NMIMS Mumbai, NMIMS Bengaluru and Hyderabad. A candidate can attmpt for NMAT up to 3 times maximum. There has to must be a gap of minimum 15 days between two successive attempts. For a candidate having multiple attempts, the maximum score (total and sectional) is considered as the final score for shortlisting. Result for every attempt is declared individually, approx 15 days after taking the test .Form is Rs.2000/- for normal registration for either MBA or PGDM and Rs. 2400/- for both MBA in Mumbai Campus and PGDM.

XAT

Xavier Aptitude Test or XAT is conducted by Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI)  for admission in post graduate programs in management courses of various management colleges. There are two sections in the test. Section 1 has 3 parts-Decision Making,Verbal and Logical Ability and Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation of 25, 30 and 36 minutes respectively. Section 2 is Essay Writing and General Awareness and this section is of 40 minutes.

TISS

Tata Institute of Social Sciences(TISS) in Mumbai conducts common entrance test  i.e. TISS National Entrance Test (TISSNET). The candidates can apply for a maximum of 3 programmes. Cost of application for is Rupees. 750 per programme.

ATMA

AIMS Test for Management Admissions (ATMA) is a national MBA entrance exam which is conducted by Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS) and the fee is Rs.1050 which is fixed for all applicants.

CMAT

The All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) conducts Common Management Admission Test (CMAT).The fees for Indian Candidates appearing for CMAT in India is Rs.1200 with additional Bank charges as applicable for General / OBC candidates and if you belong to the SC/ST/PD category then you need to pay a fee of Rs.600 with additional Bank charges as applicable.
