What is the UPSC CAPF (AC) 2027 exam?

The Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission to recruit Assistant Commandants for India’s five central paramilitary forces: the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). These officers lead frontline units responsible for border guarding, counter-insurgency, internal security and disaster response across the country.

Medical standards are stringent; candidates with colour blindness, high myopia or other disqualifying conditions are excluded at this stage.

Questions probe a candidate’s views on AFSPA, recent border incidents, cyber threats to paramilitary forces and ethical dilemmas in counter-insurgency operations.
