Every student wants to score good in GRE and they try to get it. There may be so many departments in an university and each of them have different GRE score ranges. You can know all about good score just by reviewing the program page of the universities. Every uninvesrity has a specific requirement and minimum GRE score that you need to get admission to it.

Some universities and colleges are very clear about the requirements. The highest possible score in the section is 170 and minimum is 130. If you want to be among top score achievers, then you have to score above 165 in quant and 163 in verbal. The total score will be 328+. If you score it, you can be among the 10% of the candidates who appears in GRE exam.

If you achieve 158 to 160 marks in verbal and 158-163 in quant, then your total score will range from 317 to 325. This is quite good score and you can be among the 25% of the GRE candidates. Good score is recommended and you should try to be the one who comes in this range. Apart from it, 50% of GRE candidates achieve the modest score that means 152 in verbal and 153 in quant minimum. This means modest score range may lies from 305 to 316.

Graduate Record Examination conducted by the ETS (Educational Testing Services) is the standardized examination to get into the schools in the USA. The different universities in the USA have different benchmark scores for GRE. The Quantitative and Verbal scores combined together to give a total score of 340. Top Score of GRE

To get the top score in GRE, the students need to score above 165 in Quantitative assessment and above 163 in verbal section. So, a total of 328 or more is the top score. Students scoring more than the marks constitute the 10 percent of the total GRE test takers.

Good Score

Students scoring between 158 and 162 in the verbal scores and quantitative scores of 159-164 gives a total score around 317-327. It constitutes the 25% of the total GRE test takers.

Modest Score

A score of 152-157 in verbal and 153-158 in quantitative assessment will give a modest score or 305-316 in GRE. More than 50% of the students fall into the modest category of GRE scorers.

Students need to have a high AWA (Analytical Writing Assessment) for getting selected into prestigious institutions. Along with the GRE score, the students need a compelling SOP (Statement of Purpose) and high-valued Letter of Reference for gaining the attention of the colleges.
