WIRELESS LOCAL AREA NETWORK (WLAN)
A Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is a flexible data communication system frequently augment rather than replace a wired LAN inside a building or campus. WLANs use radio frequency to spread and receives information over the air, decrease the requirement for wired attachemnt. This notebook computer is connected to a wireless access point using a computer card wireless card
First wireless computer communication network is brought by Norman Abramson professor at the Hawaii university.
There two types of WLANs
- Peer-to-peer
- Bridge
Network within Home Area
A home network or home area network (HAN) is a residential local area network (LAN) for communicating between digital devices typically deploy in the home, usually a few number of personal computers and accessories, such as printers and mobile computing devices. An important function is the distribution of Internet access, often a broadband service provisioned by fiber-to-the-home or via Cable Internet access, Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) or mobile broadband by Internet service providers (ISPs.

PHY LAYER
It is a physical layer which is the lowest or first layer in OSI model out of seven layers. It is also termed as PHY layer. It consists of basic networking hardware transmission technologies of a network. In the OSI model it is most complex layer because of excess of available hardware technologies with extensively varying characteristics.
It provides the transmission medium electrical, mechanical and procedural boundary. The physical layer specifies the frequencies to broadcast, shapes and properties of electrical connector, similar low level parameter and modulation scheme to use. To effect the transmission or reception of electronic signals physical layer transmits the logical communication into hardware specific operation.
MAC LAYER
It is a media access control layer ant it is a sub layer of data link layer which is second layer of OSI model out of seven layer. Between the logic link control sub layer and physical layer MAC acts as an interface. Medium access controller is a hardware that implements the MAC.
Unicast, multicast, and broadcast communication service is provided by the channel.
In the MAC sublayer some function are performed are
- Transmit and receive normal frame
- Backoff function and half-duplex retransmission
- Frame check sequence
- Interframe gap enforcement
- Append/remove MAC address

This post is really nice to get the details clearly. this gives the complete detail of latest networking technologies.
evenybody need to know some think about the network concept, i believe that this article not only teaches about the networking concept, but also raise the interest about the network to others so please review this article
Networking is a very important part of our life especially in this modern world where we are all surrounded by different types of networks. This article gives that much information about it which every person should know as in any case they access the internet which has become a sort of lifeline for every one. This article is really very helpful. EVERY ONE SHOULD READ IT THOROUGHLY.
