Physical requirements for IAS or UPSC. Is the requirement very high for Ips
Basically in IAS there are no such huge requirements. For Indian Police Service that is IPS candidate needs to have the physical requirement. For men the height required is 165 cm and 4 women the height requirement is 150 cm. 5 cm of height is relaxed for the candidates who belong from the scheduled tribes or from the races such as kumaonis, Nagaland, Assamese, gorkhas.
- There are few other physical requirements as well which needs to maintain. Like the minimum vision, no colour blindness, they should not be any hearing problem, you should not be any physical problem, I should not be any hernia problem. The reason for keeping this physical requirement is that it may interfere with physical training provided by the Academy after clearing UPSC examination.
- For women who are pregnant female candidates they can also prepare for UPSC examination and they clear then they are also fine for for the consideration. But they are supposed to apply for the services except that needs a physical training.
- Candidate communicable disease are not accepted.
Candidate having transplanted organs also declared unfit. There is exception for corneal transplant only.
There is one rule number 21 of the UPSC examination which is prescribed by the department of personnel and training(DoPT) i.r a candidate needs to be in good mental condition along with the health point Candidate should be free from any physical defect that May affect the duties of the officer during the service period.
Basically the medical examination is done for all the candidates who appear for the personality test of the UPSC at the Delhi center. They are few prescribed hospitals for these.
