Indian Education System Needs Serious Reforms
Our Indian Education System needs serious reforms and changes. India needs reforms from the basic itself. The preferred choice of learning is memorizing facts. Here, to judge the student’s talent, there is only one parameter, i.e., the percentage in the board examination. So students just mug up and indeed Indian education is spoon feeding.

There is no practical knowledge in our education system. Our education system mainly focuses on theoretical knowledge. Some basic theoretical knowledge is needed, but our education system focuses more on theoretical knowledge. The Indian education and social systems are very hard on kids and completely ignore their feelings, opinions, and ambitions. Kids are pushed to study from the age of 3. Non performers are treated as dolts and ostracized by parents and society. My opinion is this: our education must be all-around development. It should be based on creativity rather than mugging. Practical or visual education must be promoted.
Rethinking India’s Education System
In India, we say IITs and IIMs are the best institutions. To get admission in these institutions, one has to do a lot of hard work all throughout days and nights. Those who get admission in these institutions, it’s a boon to them.
But if we consider the global level, where do these institutions stand?
From IIT to IIM Global Need to Reform
According to “THE TIMES HIGHER EDUCATION,” only two institutions in India are among the top 200 universities. They are IIT-Delhi at 154th rank and IIT-Bombay at 174th rank. No other universities from India are on the list, whereas in the United States, there are 58 universities on that list, and Harvard University is at the top. In the UK, there are 29 universities, in China there are 8, and in Japan there are 9 universities.
There was a joke to describe the situation of the Indian Education System –
A student is sitting idly in class while others are furiously jotting down the professor’s words.
Professor: Why are you not taking notes??
Student: I already have it from my grandfather.
What I’m trying to say is that we are following the same algorithm again and again. And we are expecting a wonderful result. If we want to get the desired output, we have to make changes in that algorithm and execute it. Or else we will keep on saying that India is a developing country.
To put in a nutshell –
India’s reforming its education will become Developed from Developing.
Indian Education system needs serious reforms, and the steps that should be undertaken are:
1. Despite having the desire and skills, thousands of students in the country were not able to pursue higher education. Only 15 percent of the students in the country have access to higher education. This situation should change. The Central and State governments should work towards making higher education accessible to all.
2. The varsities were burdened with the conduct of examinations, evaluation, and publication of results. This needs to change. The universities should take up more research, publish research papers, and bring in more innovative technologies.
3 . According to a global survey conducted in 74 countries, India was ranked 73rd in terms of quality of education, while China got the top spot. We need to do more to improve the quality of our school education.
We must take immediate action to enhance the level of education, which will not only increase an individual’s knowledge but also contribute to the country’s upliftment. By doing so, we will propel India to become one of the best in terms of education, ultimately transforming it into a developed nation. Therefore, it is imperative that we acknowledge the need for serious reforms in the Indian Education System.

I have never been taught ‘How to learn’. I have been taught ‘What to learn’ and tested it by reproducing the materials in the examinations. I know everything. I am knowledge bank and encyclopaedia. Please tell me Now what should I do? How can I help my country based on my education.
Please do not say me ‘to think’. I never learned ‘How to think critically’.
Yes,Indian education must require some changes.In order to bring changes in Indian education we have to follow steps which are mentioned in this article.The main reason for this change is to make India a developed country,otherwise India will remain a developing country.

I think that the “System of Education” should be changed. Education is must in today’s time,because without knowledge we doesn’t anywhere.So, we have to develop our mind according to today’s requirements.
In today’s world, studies is a biggest competition in the world. Education is not what it is supposed to be. Education is preparing a person to face everyday life.Today’s education produces only money making machines. The moral values are getting eroded. Education must make the student THINK. It must make them invent new ideas and not reinvent the same wheel.Education system is in the hand of government. So when government changes books every time development process of student is changed.Indian education system definitely without a doubt needs reforms.
Our Indian Education System needs to be changed and reformed. There is no practical knowledge in our education system. Our education system mainly focus on theoretical knowledge. Some basic theoretical knowledge is needed but our education system focuses more on the theoretical knowledge. Educational systems are gaining profit out of the students they are demanding lot of money to provide a valuable course because of this people who are in poverty line are not able to afford lots and lots of money to get educated though they are brilliant to gain knowledge.
Secondly the education system is based on forward and backward class which is an hindrance because backward class does not get a quality education. Thirdly our education system does not give us the courage to face real life situations. Hence according to me the Indian education system needs to be changed. If all the above said points are rectified I’m sure that our education system will serve as a best education system this will make our India to become a developed country.
In today’s world everyone needs to be updated so why not the INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM?
Its not that our education system is bad, but there are certain things that really needs amendment.
In our country what the students mainly gain is bookish Knowledge but what is important that how you face the world out there for which practical knowledge is equally important so the Indian education system should lay emphasis on the practical aspect of gaining language.
Our education has its richness even today but the drawback lies in its improper implementation. India today is the second largest higher education network in the world. Universities in India are set up by the Central or State Governments by means of legislation, while colleges are established by either the State Governments or private bodies / trusts. All colleges are affiliated to some university.Children belonging to the economically weaker sections of society in India are entitled to free education but it may also take a lot more to ensure that the quality of education imparted to those children is of acceptable standards or not ? The wealth runs short for establishing the projects that require new advanced technologies and this is the point where everything goes drop dead. India is indeed the richest culture wise but not rich enough in its resources to provide quality education to its nation. The fundamental flaw in India’s schooling system is the controls and restrictions implemented by the central and state governments. It is very difficult to open a new school in the English medium across India, and the existing ones; are subject to regular harassment and unable to expand freely.The quality of leadership in government schools is inadequate and they are very poorly managed.
I am in total agreement of what is being said in this particular article.The system of education here relies more on theories than on practical knowledge as result of which this system is mostly producing bookworms.The individuals having scientific aptitude get lost in the process of having to mug up the books.
The education system here need serious reforms that relies more on imparting knowledge that socially useful and relevant.The system should be thus framed so that the true worth of a student is evaluated properly and his or her area of interest can be properly identified.C.B.S.E has done away with percentage system at the board level.But it is a very small step towards the intended reforms.And we hope we will see many such changes in near future.
I agree with topic that our education system need serious reforms because at present our student are getting only knowledge of book they does have any practical knowledge. They are having degrees and diploma but they are not getting the experience which is more important.

I am personally believe that our education system was not really perfect and good. Education System of our country is an controversial topic because we are always discuss this topic but in the end our hands is empty because we have a plan but we dont apply that plans in our education system. Lastly i dont want to say to much i just want to say that we dont have cover up our system we have to cover up our thinking. It means we have an IITs and IIMs but the other private universities have to enhance their infrastructure and enhance their education level because student dont want theoretical knowledge the only want implementation which will given by practically theoretically knowledge is used to pass in the exam it is not more useful for any student.

according to Swami Vivekanada..” Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man”…. the duty of education is nether making a student illiterate nor to make a student eligible for a job… the main purpose of education is to make a proper human being. rankings of the system is not the issues…. i ancient ages (like vaidic ages) indian education took a supreme role…….
for the renovation purpose…. the main priority should be the balancing of theoretical and practical knowledge gain,,,, practical educations make the subject more interesting to the students…. beside this the infrastructure should be rebuilt …. numbers of colleges should be higher…
the system should be changed from the grass root levels….. athletics should take part in the education system… the students should not be forced to go to school… the system should be like this that they will feel good to join the school…….
I totally agree with the point that our education system needs serious reforms. Even today we are being taught by means of text books whereas outside India people are taught by means of animation. Students understand better when they see things not when they read things. I admit that nowadays several other means are adopted for teaching reforms are being done but a child coming from a poor family cannot go to the school where things are taught by using such means like animation or where things are shown by means of a projector. Moreover a child is unnecessarily burdened with pressure. There are weekly class tests, internals, projects etc. And the bags of a 4th or 5th grader are heavier than that of a 12th grader. Hence i feel that serious reforms are necessary in our system of education.
Going through the article i encountered things which we have faced in our childhood.No matter what were the past scenario but the Indian education system is reforming on a regular basis.having a brief reading of article the two major point on which i stuck were “The preferred choice of learning is memorizing facts.” & “Here to judge the student’s talent has only one parameter i.e. percentage in board examination” has been reformed to certain extent . Central boards like CBSE , ICSE and many more state boards had made the board exams( 10th ) as an optional for the students more over our supreme court has also passed schemes for not failing students up to class 8th the reason for this reform was to let students get enough time to get out of their book and move towards the new technologies on the 21 centuries..more over institutions like IIT’s and IIM’s has also changed their selection procedure.The best part of this article was the points on the “India reforming its education will become developed from developing” these points are really needed to be implemented to have a much better education system.
Indian education system is changing with time central and state government has played their roles on passing funds ,rules and regulations but what lacks is proper implementation.
Indian education system definitely without a doubt needs reforms. but we cannot expect such things to happen overnight. our education should be more of practical based. n politics should be kept away from it. now a days education in India z the best business and this is what is harming us adversely. the quota system for example, the reservation in my opinion should b made for the underprivileged students rather than the reservation being barely based on a person’s caste!

I agree that the education system needs some reforms, some improvisations, some uniqueness in the system as on overall basis. The practicality concerns are less concentrated upon and the theoretical counterparts are also not on the levels of satisfaction.. the teachers aren’t serious about teaching at the primary levels and the students are therefore unwilling to make up to higher education because of lack of quality education at the initial platforms of educational profile upbringing.
i agree to the fact that india really needs a revolution in its education system cuz it plays a vital role in a developing nation like india. there is a lot of brain drain too due to inadequate and proper systems in india which leads to this. Its very true dat v have some of the best institutes here bt dy r relevantly very small in compared to our population thus many deserving candidates lag behind..it needs reformation. a serious thought to this must be given.

yes, I too agree with the fact that India education system need a reformation….students in our education system are always ready to run after marks and percentage rather than learning new thing ,,,,and students are not really responsible for this. our society,parents,neighbour force them to adopt this nature of running after marks and percentage…..As one who got good marks is assumed to be more intelligent as compared to other!!!!!

Yes i do think education system should be reformed. Nowadays educations system is nothing but a mere business. scrutinizing has become more important than learning. The general education system is focused only on examinations rather than training students for the future and really testing their knowledge. Because of this, students are forced to take tests that show only their retention powers, not their actual capacity or knowledge. So engineers today cannot do actual work in technology and doctors do not go to people who need their services.

Indian eduation system is poorely affected by the politics and the people who r sitting behind the curtain wil never try to reform the system only they wil give us reservation rather than any improvement.when we were studying in high school we never know our frnds belongs from which caste until n unles they pay les fee and other relaxation thn others.
India needs a strong revolution where candidates should be judged by their merit nt by religion and govt should open more number of world clas institue n universities against the top most universities of world.we are eagerly waiting for the day when there is no any need to migrate marvellous students frm here n people come here frm other countries for pursuing their higher studies and research like USA, UK n other countries.
