BHU PMT is conducted by the Banaras Hindu University for taking admission in to UG and PG medical courses. The Institute of Medical Sciences of BHU has three faculties (Medicine, Ayurveda and Dental Sciences), School of Nursing, Molecular Biology Unit, Center for Experimental Medicine and Surgery.
The Banaras Hindu University holds All India competitive written test for taking admission into MBBS course (84 seats) in TWO stages: PMT Screening and PMT Main, and for BAMS (78 seats), BDS (38 seats) and B. Pharm. (33 seats) courses.
Candidates should have min of 50% marks in science (10+2) & in case of SC/ST min marks are 40% in physics, chemistry, biology and English taken together. Age of the candidates should be completed 17 years minimum and not more than 25 years on 31 December of the year.
BHU PMT Exam Pattern & Format:-
This Exam consists of two test :
- Pre Medical Test – Screening
- Pre Medical Test – Main Exam
Total No. of questions: 200
Exam duration: 3 hours
Correct attempt: 2 marks
Incorrect attempt: Negative 1 marks for each wrong answer

III. Syllabus for Biology:
BHU PMT Biology paper consists of following two sections:
i. Zoology –
Zoology, Histology, Anatomy and Physiology, Reproductive System, Developmental Biology, Diversity of Animal Life, Genetics and Evolution (Fundamentals only), Symbiosis.
ii. Botany :
Anatomy and Physiology of Plants, Plant growth and development, Internal and external regulators of growth and development in plants, Internal structure of stem and secondary growth, Xylem and Phloem-their cell elements and functions, Internal structure of dicot and monocot leaves, photosynthesis-history, importance, factors and mechanism, stomata mechanism, Transpiration and respiration, Internal structure of dicot and monocot roots, Absorption and cell water relations, transport of water and minerals, tropic and turgor movements, Botany and Human Welfare.
