Should we have Age Limit or Retirement for Politicians?
According to my point of view there should be an age limit. In our country every field have some retirement age, but in politics no such age limit is there. Generally it has been seen that at the age of 55-60 a person becomes lazy and many health problems engulfs.At that span of time he loses his capability to think more effectively. As we know politicians are very crucial and important part of our country. So politicians should have retirement age.
Old is gold,is this true for politics so far?
I feel it is good to give youth more opportunities because they are full of ideas and are energetic to their tasks. Youth are full of passion and they have capability to work with zeal and confidence. They are fresh minded and can take right decision. The decision taken by young person is dynamic. If there willbe age limit then young generation will get chance to prove themselves. Now a day’s more than 90 % of Indian politicians are above 60. Just because there is no age limit, a politician continues to do his job until he is alive. I know they have experience but after a certain age limit they are not able to work so effectively which automatically lowers the development of our country. Due to lack of job opportunities many youngsters are going to foreign countries for higher education or in seek of good job. Youth should be given opportunity in politics. If there will be age limit of 60 years for politicians and they won’t be allowed to work beyond this age many of the young people will get chance to work and do some good steps to improve our nation . So that there may be chance of change in corrupted politics and make our country corruption free and developed. Politicians would need to retire notonly because they are physically unable to cope with the rigors of this demanding career, but because they feel that they have done a bit for the country. So I suggest that the age limit should be restricted up to age of 60.

When there is a concept of retirement for many other careers like engineers, bankers, CEOs, etc. why shouldn’t the same apply for politicians?
If the reason for a retirement age in the private sectors is that the capacity to contribute becomes lesser, the same applies for politics. If the reason is that they should have a relaxed retirement life, the same applies for politics.
If the old people retire, it will give a chance for younger people with fresher perspectives to come in (with the hope that ‘remote control’ possibilities will be minimal), and at the same time the bureaucracy gets refreshed more often with lesser influence by the older people.
Of course, I know it’ll never happen, because the law would have to be passed by the very same people whose careers will be shorte
The Normal Central or State government employee has the age limit of 60 years. The Supreme court judge has the retirement age limit set to 65 years. Then why should politicians be allowed to work beyond certain age. why is there no provision that asks them to retire at a certain age from politics. lets list some politicians Atal bhari vajapayee, L K Advani, Manmohan singh, Devegowda, Jyoti basu, Tamilnadu CM, and the list goes on. you can also add as many as you guys remember let see how many of them are above 75 and still in politics. Additional Details first of all i am not afraid to mention any body’s name here its just that i did not remember there name at that point one person said that why i should spare sonia gandhi well i am not its for all the politicians who are above say 65 years. i feel its logically not appropriate to say that politicians work better with no corruption at the old age i think this is insane My simple question is if every one else in INDIA has a retirement age then why is it that a politician does not have this compulsion make a rule which is common for all individual. Why can there be a law which says that the politicians have to take retirement. i also wanna ask all of them out there who are in support of no age limit for politicians when is the younger generation gonna get the chance in politics if you wanna argue it this way that we have gotta make our own way i would say how long is it gonna take you to be a true politicians and will the old aged people consider your views will they allow you to blossom with flying colors now here some of you might argue that Rahul gandhi is the newbie in politics and show me some more name but these are the relatives of some old politicians who are either dead or are so disabled that they feel the need of younger blood in there party and ya some one said with old age comes wisdom then why did that fight happened in the parliament some two years back. Some here spoke about APJ Abul Kalam i admire this man but he is not a politician to become a president in INDIA you need not be a politician you do not have any controls in the internal affairs of the country. There is some thing more to add over here and that is even politicians get monthly salaries till the time they die even if they serve the country just for a year. i.e. who ever is elected once get the salary for the rest of his/her life. which make them the government employees right. i know some of you might have an objection to that as well. In US the president cannot contest the election again once he/she becomes the president and the president can be on chair only for 8 years max.
Like everyone else, our politicians are elected to do a job. They ought to be subject to the same restraints placed on other employees. Age limits exist for a reason: to encourage the ascension of new talent, eliminate the potential for entrenched privilege, and ensure that the leadership reflects the changing times. All excellent reasons why it’s time to impose a retirement age for our political graybeards. Let them be governors, advisers, even presidents, hold ceremonial offices as reward for their long service. But the hard work of governing is best left to the relatively young. Old politicians don`t retire. They just snooze on the job. And wake up during an election year. How can leaders who make news only for their age-related ailments steer the country towards progress? Can they ever talk to or make sense of the restless, aspiration new generation? And if there is a lower age limit to contest polls, why shouldn’t there be an upper age limit?

Can they ever talk to or make sense of the restless, aspirational new generation? And if there is a lower age limit to contest polls, why shouldn`t there be an upper age limit?

It`s fashionable to blame our aged netas for all our problems: From high oil prices to terror attacks to all that garbage on the streets. But it`s time we stopped eulogising the young and the inexperienced and give the old their due. For, age is just a number with all the advances we have made in medicine and any country needs experienced leaders.
If there is defined retirement age for IAS and IPS officers, Judges of Courts, Defense personnel, Bank Officers and all other Government workers then why not of politician ? They are also servants of Govt. Of India and there should be a fixed retirement age for them. Why is there all liberty provided to them ? Is there any doubt that young generation of India can’t handle the situation and react appropriately ? In fact the probability of quick and correct decision (which is basic leadership quality) by a young man is more than that by an old age person. Why is the age limit for any job opening? Reason is every one know that a person can work at his/her best at young age when he/she is not struggling from any mental or physical problem.
As per my point of view this rule is also created by old days politicians who intentionally didn’t specify any age limit, because no one wants to hit axe on their own leg.
White hair and wrinkles, not only portray old age but also a lifetime of experiences and challenges. India’s present statistics show that over 65% of the Indian population has people below the age of 35. this implies that a huge amount of youngsters constitute the population whereas the remaining ones are the so called “oldies”.so the youngsters already have ample opportunity don’t they? Imagine, how it would be without our old men. who would teach us about their past experiences? about how they dealt with different situations? how the whole system works? Learning is important. and a teacher can teach only if he is experienced and act as a visionary with patience and hold of the situation of course. so rather can cussing the fact than cussing the fact that our politicians are old and ranting about no age limits acknowledge the fact that Bapu, chacha Nehru were 78 and 74 respectively when they died and were still involved in politics. you can read in any book, or website what they achieved though they were old politicians 🙂
I personally believe that there should be a retirement age. It not only give youngsters a chance to prove themselves but also it gives new directions of thinking and taking decisions. It is right that aged people are more experienced but a chance should be given to new brains also to make a right decision & to get an experience. Also the new generation is full of ideas & innovations. Not only this but aged people are not able to give their 100% because they are themselves weak & having health problems. So there should be a retirement age.
I think there should be a retirement age of the politicians but not totally from the politics just from the active politics. They must be made part of the recommendation committe. After this we can use the radical thoughts of the young politicians as well as the experience of the older politicians. Hence we can give ourselves a better chance of improving the overall scenario of the country.

according to my point of view
Politicians must have minimum educational background, min age for entry to politics with adequete work experience of solving grass root problems. Finally, they must have a retierement age – which may be hiegher than Govt servants. After certain age their expierence may be utilised for advisory role rather than active politics.
against:-I am going against this because, I have seen a person like Abdul kalam who is still rendering his services even now at such age, we need people like him and all the experience which he has in the world so that he can mentor many more like him, when someone is really good at something and still has the energy to put in some more years why are we forcing them to retire…We need all their experience as youngsters in India are a bit impatient till what we have seen, and we do not have many youngsters who can handle the job of politician, it can be dealt by a person who has experience in getting things done. And youngsters we do not find that capability in them. The social networking politicians are finding the wrath from all the corners lately. As still they don’t the basic essence of Indian politics…So if a politician is good at his job let him continue there should be no problem at all.

although the old people will be having good experience but they should give chance to the next generation and can remain sidewise to give certain advises or can give the instructions.and it is also seen that in the age of 60 s they are having small health problems and cannot take pressures to such extent.so they should give chance to the young generation.
a good politician learn from his experience.more is experience of a politician and more is dedication towards works than more will be output .young have more energy and dedication then old . experience with young energy give better result.so political should be given chance up to they use their experience with young for country and after that they have to be retired.so there should not be any age limit only their work output decide their retirement

Yes, there should be an age limit for politicians in politics, as it also proved by the doctors that after the age of 65-70 years our brain doesn’t work sharply as in young age. As well as we are having age limit in our Government jobs and in judiciary system, than why not we should have age limit in politics. We always tell that we are having the most powerful young brigade in this world, than why we should not have the right to join politics as the time is right to join politics and eliminate the corruption from it. We thought the young brigade do not have enough knowledge for joining politics, so the old and experience politics should join hands with us, and tell us the right and wrong of politics and slowly give the power in our hand, so we can use it in right way.

limit is there then how there experience will be useful for us. if we will take the example of mr atal bihari vajpayi and mr narendra modi they gave and giving there best in the age of 70s. so there retierment should be based on there workability not on there age. and if we want young generation to work in politics then the aged politicians should be there to direct them.

Ya of course there must be a age limit for the retirement of politicians.
There can be various reasons , firstly the more young generation people will there ,the more will be new innovative ideas for the development of the country. Secondly according to the age many a politicians sitting on their seat just want a personal profit in the sake of the development of country.
Also the young generation people have their own strategy with a mixing of their new and old ideas of past politicians. Also young people look towards high education which make them feel what will be the beneficial things for the country’s bright future. if the age limit will not be restricted the country’s situation will be same as it is in present. mostly politicians of our country is in the age in which they must be retired 60+ through which we can conclude what is right or what is wrong.
So i highly opinionised there must be retired age n welcome to young politicians as they are more hardworking n efficient with the new concepts and strategies.
according to my opinion the age limit for politicians is not neccesary because the polititians are not doing any physical work .they require lots of experiance which comes from age.as the age is increases experiance is also increases.therefore age lilmit is not neccesary as we have the great example or our prime minister manmohan singh which have lots of experiance and run our country very well.

i think there should be an retiring age for the politician because when the person become old then he cannot do a piece of work with full energy and dedication as compare to the young person …and in each department whether it is government our private there is a retiring age of 60 .. because after this age the person is incapable of doing the work with full boost and energy… if there is a retiring age in every department then why not in politics..!!
As lots of people have lot of example that there should be a age limit same here I have also an example like Sachin Tendulkar retired as he is not feeling comfortable with the physical fitness and he takes decision to take retirement. As there is scalability to compare there ability.
Many of the people influence with their famous personality and do not want to make changes in the loved ones whether they are not capable to do such things.
So the conclusion is that there should be a age limit according to the case study of these things to improvise the acceptability.
According to me it should be necessary to time limit for politicians . Young blood has to be come. Youth is intelligent and aware about country’s problems but to solve those problems experience of seniors is necessary. after 60 they are not as much efficient to work. So they should be retire.
According to my point of view there should be an age limit.Though it is is considerable to have experienced people in parliament to provide guidance & foresee the consequences of any act but it is of equal importance to provide young minds equal opportunity to come up with their innovative ideas for rapid development of any nation. The age should not be the criteria the persons qualification and his presence of mind, experience should be the criteria.For the growth of the country new youth should step forward to look after the nation.
my point of view we are living in modern age .and age limit for politicians.In government job many of those person working in age of 60-70. they should be retire from their job.many of young person who have not job.they seek for job.as many student are educated they have quality for devlpoment in india.
As limiting on politicians age will give them time to take a break from the endless job they have done throughout their life, it will also give chance to young blood to prove there metal.
In india their is unemployment problem increase day by day.
Country like United States Of America too have an age limit for their President, then why should not country like India do that.in india for president election should be fellow education policy…..
and like America young person should be become a president.and also follow the rule of age limit.
