GATE is an all – India examination of various under – graduate subjects in Engineering and Science. The full form of it is Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. It is generally conducted by IISc and the seven IITs namely IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee. Here we have provided the list of the top colleges which are under GATE but the list doesn’t includes the IITs and the NITs.

1.     Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) – Pilani

This is a fully residential privately supported institute of technical and engineering degree. It was established in 1964. It is the first institute to establish campus outside India.

2.     College of Engineering (COEP) – Pune

This college was established in 1854. It is the third oldest engineering college in Asia after College of Engineering, Guindy in 1794 and IIT Roorkee in 1874. It was granted complete autonomy by the state government in 2003 – 04. It has kept itself consistently in the top 20 technical colleges in India.

4.     Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI)

This institute was established in 1887 and is one of the most premier institutes of technical and engineering. It was previously known as Victoria Jubliee Technical Institute. It is affiliated to University of Mumbai.

6.     College of Engineering (Anna University) – Guindy

This is one of the oldest engineering and technical institute of India which was established in 1794. It is also the most prestigious and highly selective engineering schools in the country. 7.     Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology (NSIT)

This college of Engineering was established in 1955 as a public institute under Jadavpur University. It is a co – ed college having two campuses, the main campus is at Jadavpur and the new one is at Salt Lake. This university is rated as a “Five Star University” in India by National Assessment and Accreditation Council.
